Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your account. Each time you sign in to the online dashboard for your Visa® Prepaid Card, you'll enter your password plus a one-time verification code that we send by email or by text message to the mobile number on your account.
In this article, you'll learn how to switch where your verification code is sent, from email to text message or from text message to email.
Before you begin
- Two-step verification must already be turned on. If you haven't turned it on yet, start with How to Enable Two-step Verification.
- To get codes by text, you'll need a mobile number that can receive texts. A landline can't receive the code. If you don't have a mobile phone that receives texts, keep your codes coming by email.
- Keep your email open in another tab or on another device. You'll need to enter a code from your email (and, when switching to text, a code from your phone) during these steps. Opening your email in a separate browser tab, or on your phone, means you don't have to leave the dashboard to find the code.
How to switch your code delivery method
- Sign in to your dashboard. Each plan has its own sign-in page; you can find the link for your plan in ABLE Visa® Card - How to Log In Online.
-
Go to the Profile section of your account.
-
If you'd like to receive codes by text message and haven't added a mobile number yet, click Add phone number and enter your mobile number.
-
Next to your current two-step verification method, click Switch.
-
A pop-up window will ask you to confirm it's you. Check your email for a verification code, enter it in the pop-up window, and click Continue.
- If you're switching to text message, click the green Continue button to send a code to the mobile number on file.
- Check your text messages for the verification code. Enter it in the pop-up window and click Verify.
- Done! The Profile section now shows your new two-step verification method.
Switching back to email works the same way: click Switch next to your current method and follow the prompts to confirm with a verification code.
Please be aware
- Code didn't arrive? Please wait at least one minute before clicking Resend code. If you're waiting on an email, check your spam or junk folder.
- Text message rates may apply. Standard text message rates, fees, and charges may apply to verification codes sent by text.
- Changing your mobile number? If you receive codes by text and your mobile number is about to change, switch to email codes first, so you don't get locked out. If you've already lost access to your old number, please contact our Customer Support team.
