Alerts let you receive email or text message notifications about activity on the Visa® Prepaid Cards you manage, so you can keep an eye on spending without signing in every day. For example, you can be notified when a large purchase is made, when the Card's balance runs low, or when a transaction is blocked.
In this article, you'll learn what types of alerts are available and how to turn them on or off.
Before you begin
- You'll need full access. Only users with full access can change alerts. If you have read-only access, please ask a user with full access on your account to complete these steps.
- Alerts are set for each Card. If you manage more than one Card, you'll set alerts separately for each cardholder.
How to open the Alerts tab
- Sign in to your dashboard. Each plan has its own sign-in page; you can find the link for your plan in ABLE Visa® Card - How to Log In Online.
- Open the cardholder's page. If you manage one Card, you'll land on that cardholder's Transactions tab as soon as you sign in. If you manage more than one Card, select the cardholder you'd like to set alerts for first.
- Click the Alerts tab.
Types of alerts
There are three sections on the Alerts tab, and you can customize alerts in each one.
Top-line alerts
Receive alerts for transactions above an amount you choose and when the Card balance falls below a level you choose. For CalABLE and PA ABLE Cards, which can be used to withdraw cash, you can also receive an alert when the cardholder withdraws cash. Cards from other ABLE plans and 529 plans can't withdraw cash, so this alert doesn't apply to them.
Blocked transaction alerts
Receive alerts when a transaction is blocked. You can choose to receive alerts for all blocked transactions, or only for specific types of blocked transactions (for example, insufficient funds or an incorrect PIN).
Alert preferences
Choose to receive alerts by text message, email, or both. You can also add additional email addresses to receive alerts for a specific cardholder, and choose whether you'd like email notifications as they happen or once a day. Text messages are sent as alerts happen. Standard text message rates, fees, and charges may apply.
How to turn an alert on or off
- On the Alerts tab, find the alert you'd like to change.
- Check the box on the left side of the alert to turn it on, or uncheck it to turn it off. For alerts that use an amount, such as a large transaction or a low balance, enter the amount you'd like to use.
Your change is saved as soon as you check or uncheck the box. You can add or remove alerts from the Alerts tab at any time.
Please be aware
- Alerts don't block anything. Alerts tell you about activity on the Card; they don't stop a purchase. To control where and how the Card can be used, see the Spending Settings Overview.
- Keep your mobile number current for text alerts. Text alerts need a mobile number that can receive text messages; a landline can't receive them.
