Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your sign-in for the online dashboard of your Visa® Prepaid Card. Once it's turned on, each time you sign in you'll enter your password and then a one-time verification code that we send to you. That way, a password alone isn't enough to sign in to your account, which helps protect it if your password is ever guessed or shared.
In this article, you'll learn how to turn on two-step verification, how to choose whether your codes arrive by email or text message, and how to turn it off.
Before you begin
- Decide how you'd like to receive your codes. Codes can be sent by email to the email address on your account or by text message to your mobile phone number. A landline can't receive the code, so if you only have a landline, choose email.
- Keep your phone or email handy. You'll need to enter a code during setup, so have your phone or inbox nearby before you start.
How to turn on two-step verification
- Sign in to your online dashboard and go to the Profile section of your account.
- If you haven't already added your mobile phone number, add it now.
- Once your mobile phone number is added, click the Activate button.
- A pop-up window will appear. Choose how you'd like to receive your codes (email or text message), then click Continue.
- Check your email or text messages for your verification code. Enter the code in the pop-up window and click Continue.
That's it! Two-step verification is now on. The next time you sign in, we'll ask for a code after you enter your password.
How to turn off two-step verification
If you ever want to turn off this security feature, go to the Profile section of your account, click the Deactivate button, and enter the verification code we send you.
Please note
- Didn't get a code? Please wait at least one minute before clicking Resend code. If you chose email, check your spam or junk folder, too.
- Stay on the sign-in screen. Keep the sign-in page open while you check your phone or email for the code, then come back and enter it on the same page.
- Landlines can't receive codes. If the phone number on your account is a landline, choose email as your delivery method instead.
- Each user sets up their own. Two-step verification applies to your own sign-in. Other users on the account can turn it on from their own Profile section.
