Whether there's a monthly fee to use your Visa® Prepaid Card depends on the plan your savings account belongs to and, for STABLE accounts, the state where the beneficiary lives. Many plans have no monthly fee at all.
In this article, you'll learn which plans have no monthly fee and where to find fee details for your plan.
ABLE accounts
There is no monthly fee to use the Visa Prepaid Card for:
- STABLE account beneficiaries who live in Ohio, Oklahoma, Utah, Vermont, or West Virginia
- CalABLE (California) participants
- PA ABLE (Pennsylvania) participants
- Maryland ABLE participants
All other ABLE accounts and states' residents will incur a monthly fee once the Card is activated. The monthly fee amount depends on your plan and state. Please see the Cardholder Agreement for your plan for details:*
- Cardholder Agreement for STABLE accountholders
- Cardholder Agreement for all other ABLE program accountholders
Where a monthly fee applies, it's generally deducted from the Card balance on the first day of each month.
529 Savings Plan accounts
There is no monthly fee to use the Visa Prepaid Card for beneficiaries who have a Vermont 529 (VT529) account.*
*Other fees, terms, and conditions apply. Please see the Cardholder Agreement for your plan, linked above, for full details.
