A temporary override lets you allow or block all transactions on the Visa® Prepaid Card for a period of time, then return to your previous Spending Settings with one click.
In this article, you'll learn when a temporary override can help, how to turn one on from the True Link mobile app or the online dashboard, and how to remove it.
Before you begin
- You'll need full access. Only users with full access can turn on a temporary override. If you have read-only access, please ask a user with full access on your account to complete these steps.
When to use a temporary override
- Allow all transactions. This can be helpful if the cardholder is in an emergency and a transaction you'd like to allow is being blocked by a Spending Setting.
- Block all transactions. This blocks all transactions on the Card until you remove the override.
How to turn on a temporary override
You can turn on a temporary override in one of two ways.
Option 1 – True Link mobile app
If you don't have the app yet, see Download our mobile app.
- Log in to the True Link mobile app and tap Spending Settings.
- At the top of the next page, tap Allow all Transactions or Block all Transactions.
Option 2 – Online dashboard
- Log in to your online dashboard and go to the Spending Settings tab.
- Click Allow All Transactions or Block All Transactions.
How a temporary override works
A temporary override takes the place of all other Spending Settings on the Card while it's on. Your other settings aren't deleted; they're simply set aside until you remove the override.
Cash access is included only for CalABLE and PA ABLE Cards. On a CalABLE or PA ABLE Card, Allow All Transactions also allows cash access, and Block All Transactions also blocks it. Cards from other ABLE plans and from 529 plans can't be used to access cash, and a temporary override doesn't change that. To learn more, see Can I withdraw cash with my Visa® Card?
How to remove a temporary override
When you're ready to return to the previous Spending Settings, click the Remove Override button. All of your original Spending Settings will be restored.
